Exams
Dental exams are an important to ensure that your teeth and gums stay healthy. While regularly brushing and cleaning are vital to your overall well being, they alone are not a comprehensive solution for all aspects of your dental health. By scheduling routine examinations with your dentist, you are allowing him to get an overall picture of your current state and spot any potential causes for disease. It is recommended to schedule an exam with your dentist at least every six months.
Dentures
Dentures serve as a replacement for missing teeth and come in two classes: full dentures and partial dentures. Just as their names suggest, full dentures are a solution that replaces all teeth in your mouth while partial dentures only add individual teeth to replace missing ones. While dentures are not your real teeth, it is important to care for them as if they are. Therefore, you should maintain standard hygienic practices (i.e. brushing regularly). Additionally, we may provide you with a cleaning solution to soak your dentures overnight and kill any lingering bacteria. Gum Disease Prevention
Gum (or periodontal) disease is a serious health condition that typically starts with gum inflammation and can eventually lead to lost teeth or bacterial infections. Typically, symptoms show up early in the form of red or swollen gums (gingivitis). Wisdom teeth are the final set of molars that typically erupt when people reach their late teens or early twenties. In a few cases, correctly aligned wisdom teeth do not pose a health complication and serve as an extra set of teeth. Usually when wisdom teeth grow in horizontally, they can cause damage to surrounding teeth and cause over-crowding. In other cases, wisdom teeth may become impacted -- or may not fully erupt. This partial eruption will break the surface of the gum allowing bacteria to enter through areas around the tooth, and because of their awkward location wisdom teeth are usually more difficult to clean.
